Axisoft CEO, George Ong, was invited to present the trend of e-Commerce of Export Credit Agency in Berne Union Committee Meetings 2006.
Mr Ong pointed out in the speech that nowadays export credit agencies needed to improve their service efficiency but at the same time to maintain the operating cost. This was challenging and could only be solved by introducing e-Commerce platform. The most important functions of the e-Commerce platform of the export credit agencies were to support policyholders to acquire new business by allowing them to submit applications and to retrieve historical records online. The platform should also improve the communication between policyholders and the agencies. A good example was the EC-link. It was the e-Commerce platform that the HKECIC adopting and was set up by Axisoft. Since the launch of EC-link, the insured business of the ECIC increased around 30% over 4 years and a considerably drop was shown in the ratio of staff cost to total expenses of the ECIC. Axisoft has successfully deployed an Export Credit Agency e-Commerce platform that manages the claims of maximum HKD 10 Billion for HKECIC.
EC-link, which is the e-commerce system of ECIC, is built base on SQUARE. The system helps exporters and policyholders apply for insurance cover and administer their insurance policies efficiently. It also helps banks speed up the financing practices, and all these services are with no limitation on time and geographic location. Besides, EC-link provides a brand new service that policyholders can raise the credit limit online. It only took around 4 months to set up the system and object-oriented programming was adopted.
