2. What is the difference between AGS and other off-shore outsourcing service in the market?

Traditional outsourcing service includes a variety of human resource service. In additional to recruitment service, it provides office and general administration service to the outsourcing members. In general, traditional off-shore outsourcing service takes clients a very long time to get the team to be productive and extra in-house staff effort is needed to run the team.

AGS is an end-to-end value added management service that establishes and runs the off-site team for our clients. Clients' return could be maximized within a short period of time.

With traditional outsourcing problems and execution barriers eliminated, clients could be hassle-free from establishing and running the team. Just staying the office, they can enjoy the professional service provided by the team. On-going management work could also be offloaded.

12. Why are there so many failure cases about off-shore outsourcing?

Outsourcing is not a quick fix, but an integral part of a long-term strategy. In general, the failures were caused by service providers who want to maximize their profits within a short period of time, and do not have long term commitment to serve their clients, reduce cost and help their clients focusing on their core competency.

Sometimes, our clients may have vigilance against AGS as they are afraid that they will lose their jobs. In fact, AGS is to secure their jobs instead of a threat to their career. If we do not improve and adjust our value-proposition, we shall find ourselves no longer competitive in the market very soon. This is a fact and examples can be easily found in America or Western European markets in the last decade.

In some cases, the clients may run their off-shore outsourcing center by themselves. They may underestimate the required efforts or lack the experience in working with people from different culture. Eventually, the project may fail.

Some clients may underestimate the importance of the team establishment process. They may expect the team to be productive when it is just set-up. The team establishment activities, which are essential for achieving long term success, such as business knowledge training and culture learning may be overlooked.

13. How could I control the quality of the deliverables?

During the establishment of the AGS team, our Quality Control Department (QCD) will actively involve. Based on the service nature, QCD will define the quality control procedures to each team, such as service execution procedures, document control procedures, testing cases and reports, etc..

QCD will offer a free quality control service to each client on a day-to-day basis. Before the deliverables are sent to the client, they will be forwarded to QCD for reviewing and testing. QCD will audit the operation and document of AGS team regularly in order to assure that they are conforming to the defined quality control procedures and meet the service level.

14. How does AGS support off-shore communication?

To all off-shore services, including AGS, an uninterrupted communication infrastructure is critical to the service quality. We have more than one least line between Hong Kong office and our AGS center in Zhuhai. The least lines are provided by different telecom companies.

In addition to the general communication methods, like phone, fax and email, we also have a VOIP and the most advanced collaboration platform that provides a virtual office on the Internet. With this virtual office, members from different offices could work together, share and discuss information on-line, just like staying in a single office.

15. How does AGS support time zone difference?
In AGS, 24-hour cover service makes it no time zone difference. Our AGS center opens 24 hours a day and 365 days a year. Based on the requirements from our clients, we could offer round-the-clock service and adjust to support the office hours of client's country.

16. How does AGS handle the language problem?
The AGS service team is a hybrid-team that composes members from different locations, such as Hong Kong and China. We have native Cantonese or English speakers in the each team, acting as the communication interface between the clients and the team. Instead of having dialogs to all team members, focusing the dialogs on a few members is a more efficient way for communication. This approach also saves communication effort from our clients. In addition, all the members in AGS team has passed CET (College English Test) level 4 or above in English examination in China. They can read and write documents and email in English and Chinese. So, there will be no problem in neither written nor oral communication.

17. How long does it take for my organization to enjoy the result from AGS?

Being an honest and reliable service provider, we shall tell our clients the truth that the AGS team cannot be fully productive at the early stage of the service. Like every outsourcing service in the market, there is a team establishment period for AGS. During the period, our consultants will carry out various activities, such as recruitment, training and documentation. In order to be successful for AGS service in the long term, the establishment period could not be eliminated. However, based on our experience in outsourcing service, software development, quality control, documentation, off-shore development center management and infrastructure investment, we guarantee our clients that the period is the shortest in the market.

In general, the period depends on the size of the team, the required technical skill and business knowledge. Basing on our experience, a team of five members with banking and Java experience may take two to three months to be productive.

During the establishment period, our service consultants will update the progress to our clients periodically to give a better resource plan. Also, the training result such as testing program, business domain test will be provided for our client for better information

18. When should I use AGS?

In fact the answer to this question can be applied to most organizations and the answer could always be found from the following question. For how long can you endure the high running cost and the diversification of business focus, and eventually loss of market competitiveness? Then you may find that you should have used AGS since yesterday.

Nevertheless, there are thousands of excuses for organizations for not using AGS, such as the project schedule is tight and AGS could not help the project immediately; the colleagues are busy at the moment and there is no time for AGS implementation, etc. However, the fact is that AGS is for long-term benefit to the organization. The later you use AGS, the less competitive is your organization. Six months, one year or two years later, you still have to face the same problem of having tight project schedule and your colleagues being too busy. Therefore, our recommendation is that you should sit down and think carefully – How could you be competitive in the market? How can you focus on your core competency? Instead of working long hour, how could your colleagues contribute more to the organization?

You may find that with your current operation, you will keep suffering from the high running cost and loss of business focus. The consequences are deteriorations in service quality, working efficiency, market competitiveness, company profit, etc.

19. How do I know which service provider is good for me?

The objective of global service is to provide high quality offshore system development service. First of all, you have to assure that your service provider has the capability of developing large scale and complicated systems.

One of the ways is to verify if your service provider has a proven software product, which requires strong enforcement of software engineering practice. If possible, you should try the product in order to assess the capability of your service provider. A proven software proves that your service provider has the capability to implement complicated and large scale business application systems.

In addition to the execution capability of software engineering practice, the other critical successful factor of global service is the management capability to an offshore development team. You can review the management practice in various aspects, such as recruitment, team building, skill transfer, internal training, HR resource, day-to-day administration and monitoring, staff retention, rewarding scheme, etc.

In addition to collecting information from your provider, you should check if she has relevant successful cases. If possible, talk to their clients directly so that you can verify the capability of your provider.
